" Graduation (Friends Forever) " is a single by, and considered the biggest hit of, American pop singer Vitamin C. The song is well-known for being played at high school graduations and at some middle school graduations. The film clip was directed by Gregory Dark.
Reception
The single reached #12 on the Top 40 Mainstream, #23 on the Rhythmic Top 40 and #38 on the Billboard Hot 100 on May 30, 2000, after reaching the Top 40 on May 9, becoming her second single to reach the Top 40. It also reached #2 in the Australian ARIA Charts.
The opening lyrics of "Graduation (Friends Forever)" allude to "All the Young Dudes" by Mott the Hoople.
The song is heavily based on Pachelbel's Canon in D, transposed to the key of C major.
The video is featured in the DirecTV original show Rock and a Hard Place .
The song was used in the 2001 Parody film Scary Movie 2, where Cindy is singing along (horribly) with the song on her way to the mansion in the car. The song stops and Vitamin C's voice says "Hey! Will you shut the fuck up and let me sing?", then the song resumes.
